Google Chrome Desktop Notification

September 2, 2009

The days of manually checking for Google Chrome updates are slowing coming to an end. A Chromium developer document was just posted that discusses the design for desktop notifications for Google Chrome.
There’s no clear indication how the notification will be used yet, since notifications will be off by default for now.
NG would rather have a scheduled update checker that has the option to automatically install new versions of Chrome unattended. It may sound lazy, but computers should be able to take care of themselves, so we can work on other more productive tasks rather than updating software for a program already installed on the computer.
