usb-3 USB 3.0 Finalized - Super Fast

We’ve already known a lot of information about the upcoming USB 3.0 standard, but it wasn’t until yesterday that it actually became a standard. The conclusion, it is screaming fast. USB 3.0 which won’t really hit the scene until sometime in 2010 will feature transfer speeds of 4.8 Gbps will be able to move a 25 Gb HD file in around 70 seconds. Also speeds will be more sustained due to the the extra data lanes instead of burst speeds, making it better for video cameras.

Unfortunately, although the technology is backwards-compatible, old USB 2.0 cables won’t deliver proper speeds. For USB 3.0 speeds you’ll need to all new cables for your gear.
