Really, that’s it. This has been proven to work on model number #1033cl. No word on if every Mini 1000 has that mysterious SIM card slot. If you have one and you got this working, let us know.

The name says it all. "Precision" because of the clean lines and the ease in which you can finish your work. "Covet" because, well, other people will want it. "Mobile workstation" because it is one, and "M6400" because it just about costs $6,400.

Not quite. The unit will actually set you back $3,859. Sound pricey? It is, but check out what’s under the hood:

For a moment there, I thought it was a Sony VAIO. But it’s not: it’s the upcoming Dell XPS M1330, a beauty in its own right. Specs are pretty nifty with a Santa Rosa chipset, nVidia GeForce Go 8400M GS, and the obligatory USB, webcam, Wi-Fi, and WWAN options. Some other surprises are thrown in, but the real story is that it’s mighty pretty, and relatively small and light at 4 lbs or so. No idea on pricing yet, but I’m sure Dell will have to pay for that designer, who most likely sharpened his skills on anorexic runway models before breaking into the PC market.

No, your eyes are not playing tricks – that is a small computer.

General Dynamics Itronix announced today a full-featured, fully rugged computer in the "ultra-mobile" category — 4.3 inches by 6 inches!

"We are seeing market interest in smaller, more portable devices that still have all the functionality of a full-fledged notebook," said David Daoud, research manager, United States Quarterly PC Tracker and Personal Systems, IDC. "The GoBook MR-1 is likely to find a receptive audience among the highly mobile workforce in segments such as government, utilities, communications, and field services in need of a fully functional PC in a ruggedized ultra-small form factor."

It sports a 1.2GHz Core Solo U1400 processor, new wireless options (including WWAN by the end of the year), and a hard drive of 80GB, with 16GB and 32GB SSD drives also available as an option. Of course, perhaps the most significant upgrade is its newfound ruggedness, which meets or exceeds MIL-STD 810F specifications for temperature, drop, and vibration tests, as well IP-54 specs for dust and humidity.

Plan on seeing this in September for $4,450.
