Another WiFi plan for a city bites the dust. Now St. Louis faces the same outcome as the plans proposed by AT&T have hit major snags.

The company has announced that it will not be covering the city’s 62-square miles with wireless internet, but that it will instead, build a WiFi pilot project in the downtown core.

Verizon has unveiled its new UM150 EV-DO Rev.This USB modem includes a high- performance, retractable antenna and a Y-shaped extension cable for added performance and convenience. In addition, the UM150 serves as a mass storage device with its built-in microSD memory slot which has a minimum capacity of 4 GB.

The UM150 USB modem will be in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores, including those in Circuit City, on November 2. Available for $79.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and new two-year agreement, customers can get BroadbandAccess service for Internet browsing, e-mail and intranet access for $59.99 monthly access with a new one- or two-year customer agreement.
