XS Games releases “Popstar” for Wii

XS Games has just released a Wii game called "Popstar." It’s sort of like "Guitar Hero" but instead of a guitar with four colored buttons on it you get a Wiimote condom with four colored buttons on it. The game has you performing various pop songs by pushing the buttons in tandem with nunchuck attachment. Before you open your window and scream "We’ve seen this before fifty thousand times", word on the street is that it’s actually fun.
MTV’s Patrick Klepek went hands on with the device and did say the functionality was a bit uncomfortable though. Still, the game has an estimated retail price of $59.99. That’s a heck of a lot less than the $200 you’ll be forking down for "Guitar Hero: World Tour."

Star Wars – The Force Unleashed Wii Review
In the Star Wars The Force Unleashed Wii game the light saber movement is cool, but there are a lot of features still left unpolished. If you’re a big Star Wars fan you’ll want this now, otherwise, you’ll want to wait until the next release of this game. The upcoming Wii motion plus will make big improvements.

Wii Music Introduced by Nintendo

Nintendo has a new music game called Wii Music. To play you use the Wiimote, Nunchuk, and Balance Board. Don’t worry if you can’t keep the beat, Wii Music will translate all your fumbling into tunes that sound good. You won’t see any messages popping up asking if you’re "tone deaf." The game will simply make you look like a musical genius.
There are multiple options to play a lot of different instruments, such as the violin, saxophone, guitar, drums, and you can even conduct an orchestra. Your performance can be recorded for play back.
This doesn’t seem like the most interesting game, but it’s a vast improvement over the Beamz game that used lasers, as seen in the lame commercial video below.

WiiSpeak Community Microphone and Online Group Chatting for Wii

At E3 Nintendo revealed the new WiiSpeak community microphone and online group chatting for the Wii. WiiSpeak is a microphone that is placed on your TV, or on top of the sensor bar, so everyone in the room can have their voices interact like on a conference call. WiiSpeak will be bundled with Animal Crossing City Folk, which will be released later this year.

Wii Motion Plus Introduced by Nintendo

Nintendo just announced the Wii MotionPlus, which is an accessory for the Wii Remote. The Wii add-on attaches to the bottom of the Wii-mote, and traces motions in 3-D space by allowing the controller to be better oriented. The news release is below:
NINTENDO INTRODUCES THE WII™ MOTIONPLUS
July 14, 2008Nintendo’s upcoming Wii™ MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote™ controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player’s arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo’s commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.
Nintendo should offer more details at the E3 conference taking place tomorrow.
