Starbucks iPhone App Allows Customers to Buy Food and Drinks

Starbucks has released in app for the iPhone, so now besides getting free wi-fi from AT&T hotspots, you can now buy your coffee and songs from Apple iTunes at the same time.

Now available in the App Store, myStarbucks, and Starbucks Card Mobile let users find their nearest Starbucks and manage their Starbucks Card. If you live near one of 16 stores in the Seattle or San Francisco Bay Area, you can even pay for your purchases with the Starbucks Card Mobile app via barcode.

Some may argue that their are apps that already help you find a store location, and check your card balance, but some of those are pay-for apps, while Starbucks app is free, and offers a lot of functionality. For instance, rather than just finding a store with the built-in GPS or wi-fi locator, you can use the Starbucks app to search for stores that have a drive-thru, by operating hours to be sure they are open when you get there, and you can even invite friends to join you at that Starbucks.

Another cool feature is the ability to customize and save drink configurations, which you simply show to the barista.

Eye-Fi Releases Anniversary Edition WiFi SD Card – Charges $100 at Costco

Eye-Fi has released an anniversary edition of their popular SD card. The unit is known for enabling wi-fi connectivity to almost any digital camera, along with saving pictures and video. The Eye-Fi is known for coming in a 2GB model, but the anniversary edition clocks in at a massive 4GB of SD storage. The new card is available at Costco for the special price of $100, or on the Eye-Fi website for $130.

AT&T Offers Free Wi-Fi Access At Starbucks

AT&T and Starbucks have jointly announced plans to offer a mix of free and paid Wi-Fi service at more than 7,000 company-operated Starbucks locations across the United States. According to the company, the Starbucks Card holders can enjoy up to two hours of free Wi-Fi service per day at Starbucks stores, while AT&T’s broadband Internet customers and Starbucks employees can enjoy unlimited free Wi-Fi Internet access, starting this spring.

“People want to stay connected to their world 24/7, and Wi-Fi hot spots, broadband and wireless make that mobility possible,” said Rick Welday, AT&T chief marketing officer, Consumer. “Laptops and smartphones give us the online mobility we crave, and now millions of AT&T and Starbucks customers will get Internet access free from the comfort of their neighborhood Starbucks.”
“This is what our customers have been waiting for — free Starbucks-quality Wi-Fi,” said Chris Bruzzo, chief technology officer, Starbucks Coffee Company. “Through our new partnership with AT&T, we also welcome their millions of current customers who can now come in and enjoy free Wi-Fi as part of their daily Starbucks Experience.”
“Our new relationship with AT&T gives us the opportunity to expand and enhance the range of digital entertainment experiences for our customers as well as our partners, including the continued rollout of the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store at Starbucks,” said Ken Lombard, president, Starbucks Entertainment.

Expose Wi-Fi Network Passwords with WirelessKeyView on Windows

By default Windows hides WEP and WPA keys stored on your PC to connect to various Wi-Fi networks, but freeware utility WirelessKeyView lists them for you. When you’ve forgotten that Wi-Fi network key, run WirelessKeyView to see all the networks your Windows PC has ever connected to using its default Wireless Zero Configuration mechanism. This utility doesn’t reveal keys stored by third-party network connection software. Delete keys from old networks that you no longer need, and easily copy keys to the clipboard to send or save. Britain’s Health Protection Agency (HPA) will be investigsating the health ramifications of WiFi, especially in schools. They will ascertain the average exposure to the low level radiation emitted by wi-fi access points and wireless links on computers.

It features a tilting 240 x 320 display, and usesHSDPA for high speed Internet access, BluetoothÂ® and Wi-FiÂ®. Wireless cellular connectivity comes in the shape of UMTS and HSPDA, as well as GPRS and EDGE.

I hope they put all their efforts into the technology of this Wi-Fi radio, because they certainly ignored design..

This rather ugly thing is the Sangean WiFi internet radio (WFR-20) which offers up "direct access to over 6,000 Internet Radio stations (and 21,242 on-demand streams) in 250 locations from 60 genres," and you can organize your favorites in the My Stations folder.

Alaska Air Goes Wi-FI

Alaska Air "will test a system from Row 44, a provider of broadband communication for airlines, on a Boeing 737 in spring 2008," and depending upon results, it plans to equip its 114-aircraft fleet.

This technology will allow passengers with Wi-Fi-enabled devices, such as laptop computers, PDAs, smartphones and portable gaming systems to have high-speed access to the Internet, e-mail, virtual private networks and stored in-flight entertainment content.
