Lacie Biggest S2S RAID Tower – 5TB – 20TB, Nice!

This is nit-picking for a lovely device that provides 5TB of storage in a relatively compact form, but why did Lacie call it the "Biggest S2S"? What happens when they release a bigger one? Anyways, here are the specs:
- Standard 5TB storage, scalable to 20TB (via links with other units)
- Full RAID support
- 3Gb/sec eSATA interface
- eSATA-eSATA direct connection
- 200MB/sec burst rate
- Hot-swappable disks
The basic model with PCI-X is $3,699, which is a bit but reasonable for that amount of storage. HD video editors are probably already drowning in their own drool over this monster.

A Few Tidbits Leak Out on the Palm Foleo

There are those, myself included, who wonder at the value of the Palm Foleo, but who are we to judge? The specifications are starting to trickle out, and so perhaps there’s something in there to get excited about:
- 416MHz Intel-Marvel PXA27x processor
- Marathon 2700G graphics with video out
- 128MB of RAM for running applications
- 256MB of non-volatile RAM for storage
- CompactFlash and SD slots
- Wi-Fi
- Wind River Systems Linux
Well, okay, nothing too exciting there, although some of the parts are a bit non-standard. I still think the Foleo’s going to have a tough time getting going in the market, but time will tell. As it appears, that time will come fairly soon.

Need Some Inputs? The V3HD Firewire Has ‘em All

You’ll have to forgive me, because I really don’t know much about this //V stuff. But anything with so many pretty lights and varied inputs must be impressive to someone in the know. For those who are, here are some specs on the V3HD FireWire Video Interface:
- HD/SD BNC connections
- Composite
- Component
- FireWire 400/800
- S-Video
- RS-422
- XLR input/output
- HDMI output
I suppose it’s all for capturing video and such (my "duh" statement for the month), and it can handle 32 simultaneous channels. Sounds impressive. No idea on pricing, and it should be available before the fourth quarter.

Canon gets gigs

Canon has a new High Definition video camera with a 40 gig hard drive, to take the annoyance of having to constantly switch out discs when shooting with a HD video camera. The Canon HG10 AVCHD camera can shoot up 15 hours of High Def, clean cut, crisp footage. It features a 10x zoom and is outfitted a single cable connection to an HD TV. This bad boy will hi the market in October. Priced at $1,300

A PVP for Those Last-Minute Scuba Lessons

It’s extremely low-end, offering only 15fps on a 1.8 128X128 resolution LCD, and it only has 1GB of RAM. But hey, it’ll play video underwater, and there may be somebody for whom that’ll be the deal-breaker. Nothing yet on price or availability.
