Urbanspoon is free software that installs on iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPod touch running 2.0 software. Urbanspoon, which is described as part Magic 8 Ball and part urban slot machine, can help locate and choose restaurants close to you using the location-aware iPhone GPS. The iPhone’s accelerometers pick up the “shake.”

There is also a feature to lock any of the three categories in case you want to stick to a neighborhood, type of food, or price range.
