
UK Developing ‘Grenade Cam’ for Battlefield

The UK’s Ministry of Defence is currently working on a ’Grenade Cam’ device dubbed the "I-Ball" for use by UK troops on the battlefield. The said device is meant to be fired from a grenade launcher into hostile territory, then relaying back a 360-degree view of the battlefield wirelessly.
Inside the camera are image sensors and two fish-eye lenses would enable the device to help soldiers be more informed of hazardous areas or in hostile urban environments.


Mcor Readies Matrix 3D Printer for UK Release – Rest of World in 2009

Mcor looks to deliver on it’s promise of an affordable 3D printer with the release of their Matrix unit. The company is readying the Matrix 3D Printer for a UK release, with the rest of the world to follow in 2009. The unit uses traditional A4 paper and PVA glue to create objects like the ones above.
No definite price has been issued yet, but the company says it will cost "up to 40 times less" than the competition.

Mobile Fingerprint Scanners for Every UK Police

Within 18 months every UK police will carry mobile fingerprint scanners. The entire deployment will cost at least $47.5 million. The device will allow for instantaneous ID checks and hopes to speed up criminal investigations.
After the deployment of fingerprint scanners, facial recognition in the field will be tackled.

WiFi Dangers Investigated

Britain’s Health Protection Agency (HPA) will be investigsating the health ramifications of WiFi, especially in schools. They will ascertain the average exposure to the low level radiation emitted by wi-fi access points and wireless links on computers.
