If you have a spare Macbook laying around, Axiotron will replace it with one of their new ModBook tablets. Prices, after trade, start at around $1,300. This is significantly better than the unit’s usual price of $2,290. Modification kits are being sent out to a network of authorized modders, and a local representative will contact you once you place an order for the upgrade. The service, however, will not be applicable for newer aluminum Macbook models. Sorry early adopters.

Writing on the Keyboard

The A1Pro selling for only $25.48 is a hybrid keyboard of sorts which incorporates a writing pad. Unfortunately, it sits in the very spot the rest of us find our 10-key pad, which is not such a good idea.

Regardless, the idea of have a writing tablet or perhaps a small graphics tablet designed right into a keyboard is a great idea! I would buy that product.

Would you belive (a la Maxwell Smart) that Wacom is celebrating its 25th anniversary? And it is offering up three special pen tablets in 6- x 8-, 6- x 11-, and 9- x 12-inch sizes. Prices will be $369, $409 and $489 from respectively.

The Bamboo tablets will be shipping and the prices are too good to be true (but they are). The $79 Bamboo is for the casual photo retoucher and the Bamboo Fun comes in two sizes: small for $99 and $199 for the medium version.

Both models feature four ExpressKeys, the "touch ring" zoom / scroll controller, and a textured surface designed to emulate the feel of a real pen on paper. Both models should work well with both OS X’s InkWell and Vista’s Tablet features.
