Axiotron Modservice will Convert Your Used Macbook into a ModBook Tablet

If you have a spare Macbook laying around, Axiotron will replace it with one of their new ModBook tablets. Prices, after trade, start at around $1,300. This is significantly better than the unit’s usual price of $2,290. Modification kits are being sent out to a network of authorized modders, and a local representative will contact you once you place an order for the upgrade. The service, however, will not be applicable for newer aluminum Macbook models. Sorry early adopters.

Fujitsu Does Have a Way with Tablets – T2010 is Nifty

As usual, Fujitsu has cooked up some delicious Tablet PC goodness in the upcoming T2010. Check out the specs:
- Intel Core 2 Duo ULV at 1.06GHz or 1.2GHz
- Intel GM 965 Chipset (so, Santa Rosa)
- Up to 4GB of DDR2-533 RAM
- 12.1" WXGA Screen with LED backlight
- Intel GMA X1300 graphics (so, not a gaming machine, obviously)
- Up to 120GB SATA
- Wi-Fi 802.11a/g/n or a/b/g
- Bluetooth
- Gigabit Ethernet
- Standard battery life of up to 9 hours, up to 11 hours with extended version
- 3.31 lbs
No, for those who are into tablets, those are some nice specs. Just the right size, performance would be fine for a Tablet (which to should never be expected to be a decent gaming machine), and a screen that’s high enough resolution without being blinding. Pricing will start at $1,599, and I’m sure go up from there with the appropriate options.

LE1600 Tablet PC Provides Great Service on Virgin Airlines
![]()
Yes, my Tablet PC fetish is showing again. This time, it’s a bit of an industrial-use type of report, in that it’s about Virgin Airlines flight attendants using the quite nifty Motion Computing LE1600 Tablet PC to organize their wonderful passenger service. To me, it’s an example of Tablet PC’s becoming more mainstream, which is a good thing as far as I’m concerned.

Getec V100 Tablet PC: “Go Ahead, Punk. Make My Day!”

I admit to being a Tablet PC freak (and reminding everyone that my wife absconded with mine, and won’t give it back), and the Getec V100 sort of represents my daydreams of having an alter-ego. See, I spend most of my day behind a computer, rarely (never?) getting out in the wild where things must be built tough to survive.
So, I’d love to get this military-grade Tablet PC just so I could pretend to have a real life. This thing can withstand anything, dirt, sand, water, hot and cold, etc., etc. And, it’s well-equipped with Core 2 Duo, Bluetoth, and GPRS. Battery life is supposed to be six hours, as well, which would be impressive. No pricing yet, but I would expect to pay through the nose for this sort of toughness.

Tatung Releases Tablet PC That’s JUST Right

The typical UMPC is too small for many people, particularly in screen size, while the typical Tablet PC is too large for some purposes (e.g., industrial and medical applications). So, along comes Tatung with a sort of hybrid (my term, not theirs) between a UMPC and a Tablet PC, the WebPad TX-3000: 10.4 inch screen, AMD LX 800 processor, 1GB compactflash card (serves as main memory?), wireless, USB, a PC Card slot, and the lot. I can see this bridging the gap for a number of people, but no word on whether they’re releasing it beyond Thailand. And no idea on pricing.
