Pretty thin huh? I just found out some more details about the new MacBook Air. Apparently this little sucker  has a sealed, non-user-replaceable battery, and if you have ever used a Mac Laptop means ignorantly lower output of power over a short amount of time. Bottom line – how much is it going to cost to replace the batter and how long does it last in the first place? Answers are coming.

macbook air keynote 1 15 08 MacBook Air!!

Apple just announced the .16-inch thin MacBook Air — a laptop so thin it fits in a manila envelope. The new machine features a full-size keyboard and LED-backlit 13.3-inch display with built-in iSight, and the new larger trackpad supports multi-touch gestures. Just like the iPhone, you’ll be able to pan around, pinch to zoom, and rotate with two fingers, and move windows with a flick. Apple got the size down by using the same 1.8-inch 80GB drive that’s in the iPod classic, but you’ll be able to order a 64GB SSD as an option. The Air eschews optical media, but there’s a separate external you can snag for $99 and Apple’s also announced a feature called Remote Disk that’ll let the Air get data off the optical drive in any PC or Mac running the Remote Disk software. Pricing starts at $1799, and the Air will be shipping in two weeks.

Rumors have been flying around that Steve Jobs will announce downloadable movie rentals via iTunes during his keynote speech tomorrow. What does this mean for Netflix or Blockbuster? It means they are shaking in their boots, as they have announced unlimited streaming rentals for customers on their $16.99 a month plan starting today.

What a bunch of ninnies why don’t they step it up and start giving movies away?

promofindastore200706261 Phone Home For an iPhone and Avoid The Rush on the 29th

Here’s a thought: buy the new iPhone on the 29th from the Apple Online Store, if you just have to get one…like myself!   The diehards will surely be flocking to a store near them, come June 29th in hopes of getting their hands on the new iPhone.  But, will it really be worth their time and effort?  Will these nerds even leave the store with a shiny new phone, come Friday?  I bet there will be quite a few people turned away, and told to come back another day, or that they will have to try and buy one direct from Apple anyway.  Apple has stated on their web site that the new gadget will be available online at the Apple Store, at the exact same time as in the stores.  So why not wait a few more days, and have it shipped?  This way you may actually get one, and save yourself a big headache.  This seems like the safest bet to me.  Sure it won’t get to you until early next week, but you may actually get one this way.   It is almost certain that they will sell out quickly in the stores around the country.  If you factor in Apple’s Free Shipping, and Free signature gift box into the mix, the choice seems pretty obvious to me.  I did a little detective work, and found when you add an iPod into the Apple shopping cart online, One-Day shipping and Two-Day shipping wasn’t that bad at all.  Two-Day shipping was only $10, and if you can’t wait that long, One-Day shipping was $16.  Seems like a bargain compared to what people will go through on Friday.  That is to say, that the iPhone will be in stock, and will ship out with in 24 hours, like the iPod!  I quite possibly may even get my hands on one faster than the diehards in the stores.  While they’re waiting in long lines, wasting their time and effort, in the hopes of scoring an iPhone, I’ll be in the comfort of my home, clicking my way to a new iPhone.  E.T. phoned home, and I think I will phone home for one also.
