Buy Original Star Wars Lightsaber for $185,000 – More Available at Auction

If you have a spare $185,000 laying around, and who doesn’t, you can get your hands on the original lightsaber Luke Skywalker used in Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. For you cheapskates out there, the fedora hat and bullwhip used by Indiana Jones in Temple of Doom are priced at just $61,000 each.

These items and more will be available at a December 11 auction. Also available will be the original animatronic Gizmo from the movie Gremlins. Here are some more things you can get your hands on:

• C-3PO face for $83,000 and hands for $30,000.
• Mohawk and Brain Gremlins puppets for about $7,000 each.
• The original Jor-El tunic wore by Marlon Brando in Superman for $51,000.
• His t-shirt in Apocalypse Now for $20,000.
• An original set of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, bound in red cloth, signed by Tolkien, and containing a fold-out map of the Middle Earth for $124,000.
• For the same amount you can also snatch an 82-inch flying saucer made of wood, steel and fiberglass from Forbidden Planet.
• First editions of James Bond novels inscribed by Ian Fleming, including one that said "To the real James Bond from the thief of his identity", which was dedicated to American Ornithologist James Bond.

Amazon Selling $199 Playstation 3 Bundles to Lucky Few Consumers

For those of you looking for a great deal on the PS3, look towards Amazon. The company is charging $199 for an 80GB PS3, bundled with a game, a Blu-Ray collection and a PS3 remote. Yeah, great deal right? There’s a catch. Such is life.

The deal is part of Amazon’s yearly "Customer Vote" promotion, which calls upon customers to vote on which bundle you’d want to buy given the chance. Then, if your ship comes in, you are given a chance to race against other consumers to snag one of the rare bundles. Sounds like a pain, but it is a deal that could potentially save for hundreds of dollars.

Here is the breakdown:

PS3 Blu-Ray Sci-Fi Bundle – $199.00 PlayStation 3 80GB, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Firefly: The Complete Series, PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc remote.

PS3 Blu-ray Action Bundle – $229.00 PlayStation 3 80GB, Far Cry 2, James Bond Collection 6-Pack, PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc remote.

PS3 Blu-ray Family Bundle – $199.00 PlayStation 3 80GB, LittleBigPlanet, Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy, PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc remote.

Wow, that was brief news. I’m sorry to announce that "Darth Vader Rises" post, which was posted here on NerdGrind.com has been erased. Was it rouge hackers working for the Jedi’s? Or did Lucas finally catch on that I love Star Wars.

In any case for those lucky and quick enough to catch that geeky news – Cheers. For the others who desperately want Darth Vader News, get a pair of these National Geographic’s iGEN NV20/20 Night Scope and look into the dark. Then, maybe….just maybe you’ll spot the ever elusive blog post.

But seriously folks this night vision thingamajig is pretty sweet, costs about $520 and debuts in April 2008.

wow. In a crazy turn of events the founder of Wikipedia is going up against the Internet search giant Google, in an all out 12 round match for Internet supremacy. This is awesome, and it’s all over the geek news tubes so I don’t want to sound redundant.

I love competition for my attention.

Well, it finally happened. Google has acquired DoubleClick for 2.1 billion dollars, in a much talked about deal. Why it was so controversial was because of anti-trust laws stating that the purchase of DoubleClick would give Google unprecedented access to personal information as well as a choke-hold on Internet advertising is illegal and would infringe on personal privacy.

Google states that the purchase would only benefit the consumer. Senator Palpatine – meet Anakin Skywalker.

AT&T wireless CEO Ralph de la Vega mentioning in an interview on Friday that they’d talked to Google about joining the OHA and are "analyzing the situation" might seem like grist for the rumor mill (and headlines), but it probably isn’t news.

R2-D2 Still Kicks Butt

What’s R2-D2 up to these days? Well, he’s back as a Night Projector this time, bathing your room with images of the X-Wing starfighter, the Millennium Falcon and the impressive Death Star. You can choose from the traditional blue and white version or the red R2-M5 model as depicted. Standing a mere 6" tall, this $20 toy makes for the perfect bedside companion. C’mon now, deny it all you want but deep down inside you know you want one.

I’m tired of getting pushed around, so I’m creating the very first Robot Army. Dubbed RoboPhilo, this gem of a robot comes fully assembled for $500, but I plan to assemble them myself, so I can custom them to my needs. You know, with proton lasers and other futuristic weapons I have yet to invent.

Anyways, my take over of the earth should be eminent any time next Tuesday, and the only way to save yourselves is to join my army, or leave a comment below.
