Samsung Bucks Economy and Sells 52 Million Phones Last Quarter

Samsung managed to sell 52 million phones last quarter, besting Sony and coming within spitting distance of the Apple iPhone. However, the company’s overall profit is still down 44 percent, due to aggressive pricing and marketing. Samsung’s profits for last quarter were a respectable $850 million dollars. Not too shabby.
The handset division led sales for the company, clocking in at 52 million phones sold. This could be accounted by Samsung’s recent adoption of the "Nokia strategy", which features big pushes at both the high and low ends of the market. Samsung has managed to prove that although times are tough, the financial storm can be weathered.

Rumor: Nikon D3x 24-Megapixel DSLR in December

Do you hear that? That’s the rumor mill grinding away. AV Forums has leaked information that Nikon is going to drop their long-rumored 24MP D3x DSLR camera. The purported drop date is December. Nikon says the camera will use the same massive full-frame sensor as the Sony A900. This comes as no surprise considering Nikon has always been in love with Sony’s sensors. See the D300 model. Get a room you two!
Of course, take this with a grain of salt. It’s a rumor. But probably a true one.

The Sony PSP just received its fifth major firmware upgrade the other day. The upgrade, among other things, allows users to access the PlayStation store to download goodies directly on to the popular portable. Well, it remained hack free for a paltry two days before the illustrious "Dark_Alex" hacked into it. He changed the code to make it safe for homebrew enthusiasts to receive the update without losing programs or data. Wait, that doesn’t sound very dark. Next he is going to hack it so it helps old ladies cross the street and retrieves cats from trees. Thanks Alex!
