NTT energy- generating shoes useful and totally ugly

The guys over at NTT in Japan have designed a pair of power-packing shoe. The shoes store up energy as you walk. A nifty concept, for sure. Not so nifty? They look like a hurricane just tore through them.

what ever happened to good ‘ol fasioned rubber? Here is titanium spring loaded insoles with 1/4 inch suspension coils located directly underneath the heel, and not only provide extra support and cushioning, but can apparently turn some of the energy from your foot’s downward motion into a push-off effect on your next step.
