iss story Computer Problems Persist on the International Space Station

Life carries on aboard the ISS amid failure to get a crashed Russian computer system back on-line.  The system is responsible for keeping the space station’s solar panels pointed toward the sun, among other things.  Oxygen generation has been halted, as that system has also been affected.  Reportedly, there is enough oxygen currently to sustain life for 90 days.

Troubleshooting continues and the problem has not been pinpointed, nor have engineers been able to reboot the system.  In related news, I have this weird thing where Safari really slows down if I have too many job-seeking sites open.  Weird.

Those reports of Safari bugs were accurate. (I think its a plot!) Apple issued a new version of the public beta of Safari for Windows today — highest on the list of fixes were patches for three separate security vulnerabilities that were uncovered just hours after its first launch.

When you see this in operation, your first words will be "That’s Cool!" That’s what I muttered and then laughed when I looked at the name again :)

Cooliris will preview any website, image or video link and is customizable. Great for surfing ebay listings! Think of the possibilities. No steep learning curve either. To Preview a link, mouse over the link and then the Cooliris icon to get a fully functional smaller window with the page.

The best Firefox extension, or at the very least, one of the best. It is also available for IE, Safari, and Flock.

safari windows bug Apples Safari Blunder

Apple’s attempt at grabbing the PC population with its free version on Safari has hit a snag – on the very day of its release!

"So far we’re seeing a handful of denial-of-service bugs and at least two issues with Apple’s code that would allow remote execution by a rogue host. Sure, some of the most visible claims come from the David Maynor who (in)famously called-out Apple with a MacBook WiFi hack only to be disemboweled by the hordes of Mac faithful. Still we’re talking pre-release code so what do you expect? Besides, what better way to undermine an enemy than to present a concealed weapon in the form of a gift?"

Read up before downloading this "bugger" or better yet, just stick with Firefox.
