robophilo1 Call me Senator Palpatine

I’m tired of getting pushed around, so I’m creating the very first Robot Army. Dubbed RoboPhilo, this gem of a robot comes fully assembled for $500, but I plan to assemble them myself, so I can custom them to my needs. You know, with proton lasers and other futuristic weapons I have yet to invent.

Anyways, my take over of the earth should be eminent any time next Tuesday, and the only way to save yourselves is to join my army, or leave a comment below.

swami $75K Swami

It may not look like the cutting-edge robots we have been seeing, but this Swami can recognize people’s faces (there are cameras in the eyes) and can also carry on conversations. Reminiscent of the fortune-telling machines, this $75,000 model is equipped with 30 motors in the facial region, so its expressions can unnerve the unsuspecting guest – or you if you forgot you have a “human” head in your house!

But, if they work, then they could represent a significant advance in robotic locomotion. Air-driven, they can jump 50 cm in the air and land–no pun intended–on both feet. Advances like this are part of what makes technology so fascinating.

Robotic Mouth

term Robotic Mouth

There are so many robotic parts already developed – fingers, hands, legs – that one would think that a humanoid could be assembled already. Here come the robotic mouth.

From the Tokyo University of Science a report that they have created a robot capable of reproducing tongue and lower jaw movements associated with speech — basically, a mouth. Reportedly, it can copy the movements a human mouth needs to produce vowel sounds. It even has a silicon tongue (how creepy is that?).
