Sony’s "PSP-2001," has passed its FCC inspection. This version will only be able to output game video via component, while UMD and Memory Stick movies get composite output as well.   full FCC file

Sony Put PSP on Weight Training, Adds Video Out

The new PSP will be lighter (by 33%, not so shabby), slimmer (19%), faster, and the battery will last longer. Sounds like Sony’s put the PSP on a serious training program. They also added video out, to allow playing on the big screen. Available in September.

Infamous PSP modder Retires

Dark AleX, a modder responsible for several well-known PSP hacks, has called it quits after being accosted a few too many times by Sony personnel. Dark AleX gave a short message on his website explaining that modding has been taking too much of his time, and with persistence from Sony, found himself unable to continue.
"I think it is up to users to make the correct decisions about how to use my software," says Alejandro. "I believe in the presumption of innocence, unlike the media companies."

“Manhunt 2″ Banned By The BBFC

The adult-rated video game, "Manhunt 2" for PS2, PSP and Wii, has been banned in Britain for "sadistic violence." This decision was made by the British Board of Film Classification, who also had issues with the Grand Theft Auto series. The game will be therefore illegal if supplied anywhere in Britain. Unsurprisingly, this decision prompted one American family to campaign for the ban in America, as well, although no officially moves have been made.
