ASUS may not be the first bamboo-ensconced laptop in the world, but they are certainly trying to be the best. The laptop will feature a 12-inch screen and will go on sale at Taiwan’s IT Month exhibition this Saturday. They’ll run NT$59,900, or just over $1,800. ]]>

ASUS may not be the first bamboo-ensconced laptop in the world, but they are certainly trying to be the best. The laptop will feature a 12-inch screen and will go on sale at Taiwan’s IT Month exhibition this Saturday. They’ll run NT$59,900, or just over $1,800.

The company offers no word as to what configuration that’ll get you though. ASUS says even the base config is fairly capable, however.

Microsoft has announced that it’s Surface Multi-touch computer will be considerately more expensive than previously thought. An earlier press release listed the computer with a $10,000 retail tag, however that figure will end up closer to $13,500. That steep price even takes into account a 10 percent discount.

Microsoft Surface is a Multi-touch product from Microsoft. The computer was developed as a software and hardware combination that allows a user to manipulate digital content by way of natural motion, hand gestures, or physical objects. The official release date is early 2010.

The firm announced that parts and materials total up to $158.16 and testing and assembly costs $11.25. The consultation fee paid to John McCain was not mentioned in the report.

This should em’bold’en RIM as they will likely find no problem selling the unit to carriers for $350. Good thing, too. There is a rumor going around that we are in a recession. Don’t worry though. Should it worsen, RIM has already begun work on the "BlackBerry Paper Cup Telephone." It won’t have data service.

Apple is finally equalizing its pricing across Europe.The good news is This means lower costs in the UK to match the already standardized pricing found in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland and Spain. The bad news is that it will take 6 months to go into effect.
