If Toshiba does nothing else right, it makes a mean ultraportable. Take the R500, for instance, an under-2 lb. system with Core 2 Duo, up to 64GB SSD, all current Wi-Fi flavors, Bluetooth, and a lovely form factor in general. As if that wasn’t enough, Toshiba’s throwing in an HSDPA module (well, "throwing in" might be a stretch, I’m sure there’ll be a cost). Pricing is currently at $1,999, so not the world’s cheapest, but certainly reasonable for what must be one of the premier ultraportables currently being sold.

Samsung’s latest portable desktop replacement is a full 19 inches of beauty. The Sens G25 can accommodate up to a 320GB HD, has seven gorgeous USB 2.0 ports, a numeric keypad, and finally has an integrated AC power supply which means no more clunky and heavy external transformer brick. Prices start at a nice $1,088.

Having a large vehicle that guzzles up fuel like there’s no tomorrow sucks. The Sunforce 60W solar charger helps alleviate some of your guilt as it is capable of charging a 12V battery and comes with a 175W inverter for you to power a portable coffee maker or TV whenever you’ve ventured into the great outdoors. The Sunforce measures 54" x 42" X 12" and weighs in at 60 lbs., making it rather hefty to transport around (while consuming even more fuel when you’re carrying something so heavy). If you’re keen on some clean portable electricity, be prepared to pony up $400 for one of these.

I’ve held positions where I’ve traveled extensively, and there are two things I can say. First, hotel room alarm clocks almost never function correctly. Second, I always miss my family. That’s enough for a couple day’s travel, to keep a person aware of what his or her family looks like so there’s no embarrassing pauses when returning home. Definitely worth the $40 or so when it comes out in about a month.

Belkin is releasing a trio of nifty USB hubs. The Swivel Hub ($30) is a 4-port hub that allows for flexibility in positioning the ports for easiest access. The Clip-On Hub ($30) provides two ports and clips in place (obviously). Finally, the Hub-to-Go ($50) provides 7 ports, with three portable ports. Just goes to show that just because USB hub possibilities are nearly infinite, it doesn’t mean some aren’t decent.
