USB Device Crosses New Boundary

Now, generally, I like to keep things that generate heat and boil substances away from my computers. Call me superstitious. The Chinese must think differently, though–more of a live-on-the-edge philosophy–because they’ve cooked up (pun intended) this $7 USB scented oil burner. I’m sure that in addition to the heat, the vapors wafting in through every fan intake will do your computer loads of good. The question is: will the scent be strong enough to overcome the rancid smell of melted electronics?

Flexible Display, on the Way Thanks to LG Philips

LG Philips is overcoming many of the manufacturing issues with flexible OLED displays (such as heat) by using a mixture of oil, water, and plastic electrodes. An electric charge applied to oil floating on top of and hiding colored pixels underneath would cause the oil to separate and show the underlying color. The manufacturing process costs less and is less complex, and so I’m looking forward to these things taped to the label of every consumer product for live advertising.
