Black Friday Bloodshed Again – WalMart Worker Trampled to Death by Crazed Shoppers

News sources indicate that a 34-year old WalMart employee was trampled to death as he tried to hold back the crowds at a Long Island store at 5 am on Black Friday. The crowd took the doors off their hinges and stormed the store, crushing the employee in the process.
WalMart has received justifiable flack for not having a line system in place, nor any security. The crowds were able to surge through the doors and crush the employee all too easily. More on this as it develops:
Gigantic LED Display Activated in New York City – Times Square

The long-anticipated 17,000-square foot LED display has finally gone live in front of a Times Square Walgreens today. The heart of New York City is blaze with the unit, which touts over 12 million LEDs. The board was designed by a company called D3 LED, who claim that it’s one of the most complex LED displays in existence. It might be worth taking a gander at when you come up to the city to stare at the equally large tree at Rockefeller center.
Below is a CGI demo of the display in motion that was made in order to drum up financial support:
New Yorker Sues Apple for Hairline Cracks in Third Gen iPhone

A New Yorker named Avi Koschitzki has filed a lawsuit against Apple regarding a series of hairline cracks in their third gen iPhone. Mr. Koschitzki claims a series of cracks have presented themselves on the casing of the phone. This holds true with a series of other complaints by other consumers, however Avi is the only one filing a lawsuit. The suit claims that Apple knowingly and willingly sold the phones knowing that the cracks were not only possible, but inevitable. More on this as it develops.
Rockefeller Center Tree is Greener This Year

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree will be using a lot less energy this season as it is going "greener" — with energy-saving lights replacing old-fashioned bulbs this year.
NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced yesterday that the tree will be lit up with 30,000 LED lights for the first time and this will reduce energy consumption from 3,510 kilowatt hours per day to just 1,297 — a savings that, as the AP points out, is roughly equivalent to the amount of electricity consumed by a typical 2,000-square-foot house in a month.
Cybercar

This "driverless vehicle" is called a CyberCar (kind of a misnomer in my opinion), but here it is – a car that takes you places but no driver.
It was recently demonstrated in a Northamptonshire town and uses lasers to avoid obstacles. It is described as designed for "short trips at low speeds in an urban environment." Don’t they mean rural environment? I cannot see this in New York!
