Netflix Offers HD Streaming on Xbox 360 Before Other Formats

Netflix is gearing up to offer HD streaming of their content for the Xbox 360 platform. They currently offer streaming on PCs and Macs but the service is not in high definition. The service will be available when the new Xbox dashboard hits on November 19th. HD streaming will be available to Xbox Live Gold members only.
This is, however, only a "soft launch." Only 300 titles or so will be available at the launch of the service. That number will ramp up before too long, however.

Netflix and Silverlight Team Up to Finally Bring NetFlix Instant Watch Feature to Macs

It has been a long time coming, but Netflix is finally bringing their beloved "Watch Instantly" feature to Macs. The popular DVD-sharing service will bring it’s streaming video technology and film library to Apple products via use of Microsoft’s Flash-esque Silverlight. The software will allow Netflix to institute the kinds of DRM on Macs they’ve been enjoying on PCs since the introduction of the instant service. The company touts the Silverlight partnership as bringing "breakthrough navigation for fast-forward and rewind" to Macs.
The company notes the service will only work on Intel based Macs, so maybe it’s time to finally get rid of that ancient G3. The service should drop any day now. Click the link for a full press release.

Samsung and Netflix in Cahoots After Soft Update

Samsung blu-ray players can now, after a software update, watch Netflix streaming content directly from the internet. Owners of Samsung players can manipulate their queues, browse, rate and watch movies.
Samsung is the latest partner to help Netflix transition from DVD to streaming on-demand content. Microsoft Xbox 360s have announced to join the partnership as well sometime in November.

Streaming Video Via NetFlix

Rumors have been flying around that Steve Jobs will announce downloadable movie rentals via iTunes during his keynote speech tomorrow. What does this mean for Netflix or Blockbuster? It means they are shaking in their boots, as they have announced unlimited streaming rentals for customers on their $16.99 a month plan starting today.
What a bunch of ninnies why don’t they step it up and start giving movies away?

Netflix Mailer Flap

The US Postal Service is having caniptions about Netflix’s mailers because they are not automated machine friendly and claims they have cost them 41 million dollars. Now they are threatening Netflix to either pony up an additional 17 cents per mailer or re-design the whole thing.
