Twin Solid State Musical Tesla coils playing Mario Bros theme song at the 2007 Lightning on the Lawn Teslathon sponsored by DC Cox (Resonance Research Corp) in Baraboo WI. The music that you hear is coming from the sparks that these two identical high power solid state Tesla coils are generating. There are no speakers involved. The Tesla coils stand 7 feet tall and are each capable of putting out over 12 foot of spark. They are spaced about 18 feet apart. The coils are controlled over a fiber optic link by a single laptop computer. Each coil is assigned to a midi channel which it responds to by playing notes that are programed into the computer software.

robophilo1 Call me Senator Palpatine

I’m tired of getting pushed around, so I’m creating the very first Robot Army. Dubbed RoboPhilo, this gem of a robot comes fully assembled for $500, but I plan to assemble them myself, so I can custom them to my needs. You know, with proton lasers and other futuristic weapons I have yet to invent.

Anyways, my take over of the earth should be eminent any time next Tuesday, and the only way to save yourselves is to join my army, or leave a comment below.

Planar Systems has introduced its transparent and segment electroluminescent (EL) displays. The TASEL technology removes constraints imposed by flat, rectangular, non-transparent displays.

“Our innovative electroluminescent technology enables glass displays to be curved into different shapes and configurations, opening up markets with new OEM customers,” said Doug Barnes, general manager and vice president of the industrial business unit, Planar Systems. “Product designers seem inspired by this breakthrough to re-imagine how they incorporate displays into projects.”

Transparent displays are ideal for markets in which design aesthetics are a crucial component in communicating product innovation and quality.
