Quantum Computing

Posted on July 30, 2007 at 8:28 am (PST)

An international team, including scientists from the London Center for Nanotechnology, has detected a hidden magnetic "quantum order" in a ceramic without classical magnetism. The scientists found that despite the apparent classical disorder, magnetic excitations could propagate over long chains of atoms at low temperature - in the otherwise magnetically disordered material..
In quantum [...]

I Want a Nanogenerator, and I Want it Now!

Posted on July 23, 2007 at 12:36 pm (PST)

Some crazy scientist cats at the Georgia Institute of Technology have dreamed up a nanogenerator, which will produce power from a number of biological sources. Flowing blood, constricting blood vessels, pumping hearts, and body heat are all potential sources. They can be used to power biomedical devices or just about anything else.
