Motorola To Release Bluetooth O ROKR Pro Sunglasses

Okay, first there’s the name: "O ROKR Pro." Why the "O"? Am I missing something simple? Then, there’s the look. I simply can’t imagine these being attractive on anyone with a normally shaped skull. Finally, there’s no word on the quality of the glass, and poor sunglass optics is worse than wearing no sunglasses at all.
Now for the positives. They’re Bluetooth, which is mighty convenient, they should last five hours on a charge, which is reasonable, and you’ll be able to control the player from the sunglasses themselves via AVRCP. So, it’s not a total loss.
No word on pricing or availability. I guess it all comes down to whether you see any rational reason to combine your sunglasses with your earphones.

Motorola’s Pebble Ready to Rock

Another one of Motorola’s popular phone, the Pebble, is now going to include MP3 music capability, much like the ROKR, SLVR, and new RAZOR. The usb port looks to be right at the bottom to transfer your already illegal downloads. Looks cool, hopefully it’ll sound good right?

The ZANTE by Motorola
I never thought the Sidekick on T-Mobile was a great phone at all. I mean, sure it has all these useful applications that allow you to connect to the internet and instant message people. But, it just always looked ugly to me. Now, Motorola is making me think again about the Sidekick with the Zante. It looks like it belongs in nightclubs just so you can get emails and phone numbers from people…just don’t spill your drinks on it.

The Motorola Q900 (Zante) features full multimedia playback support, JAVA, game controllers, Danger OS, EDGE connectivity (via T-Mobile), 128MB of internal flash RAM, MiniSD card slot for 2GB, 5.9 hours of talk time. The phone also supports MP3, WAV, MIMI, AAC, AAC+ and WMA formats. The 2.4″ QVGA display boats of 65K TFT screen. It has a 1.3 MP camera and large 5-row QWERTY keyboard. Bluetooth, Push Email, SMS, MMS and IM are the other specs.

Pricing is about $269, a nice compromise to the iPhone.Â

RAZR 2 Looks Promising
Twice the screen resolution of the orignal Razor, Motorola’s Razor 2 not only gives better picture clarity, it will also add a new technology that will help with sound. Called “Crystal Talk” technology, this Linux-based platform will adjust the volume of your phone to the ambient noise in the background. No need to adjust it yourself Razor lovers. Also, if you thought the phone couldn’t get any slimmer without foregoing a bunch of features, think again…it’s actually 2 mm slimmer than the orignal. Let’s hope there aren’t too many warranty exchanges on this one.

China Covers Its Bases

After reports of a man dying in China as a cause of his cellphone batteries exploding, China has been cracking down on safety regulations, starting at the core of the problem: Motorola and Nokia.
Motorola and Nokia phone batteries were shown to have failed any safety tests administered on them and were prone to explosion on certain conditions. Funnily enough, both companies denied the batteries were theirs, hinting that the batteries ere counterfeit.
Cao Wenzhuang, a high-ranking official, was given the death penalty for accepting over $300,000 in bribes and approving counterfeit items. Counterfeit products have been distributed in China since the 1980’s, but have become increasingly more dangerous and erratic. This includes the lithium-based batteries found in cellphones computers. Even certain brands of Chinese toothpaste could be dangerous, which has shown to contain traces of diethylene glycol, a chemical responsible for 200 deaths in Haiti and Panama.
Over 30,000 inspectors were sent nationwide to find substandard foods, drugs and consumer products. As of this week, the reports shown that nearly 20 percent of the nation’s food and consumer products were found to be substandard or tainted. Nokia insists that its products are still appropriate for recreational use and there will be efforts to crack down on counterfeiting.
