Microsoft has codenamed the next version of the Xbox 360 motherboard Jasper. The board apparently comes with some unannounced goodies. The motherboard contains a 65nm graphics processing unit, and uses less than a 150W power supply. Jasper clocks in at 25W less than before.

More than anything, however, is the inclusion of a 256MB flash memory chip for internal storage. This should make you Xbox owners out there who don’t own a hard drive happy. Get to saving!

The hot Intel Core i7 motherboards are on sale again at Newegg. Prices range from about $400 to $1,070. Full Core i7 systems are also for sale at Amazon. Those prices are a bit higher.

Us techies love to see our favorite gadgets broken apart to help us gleam some understanding. Alrighty, so, it’s only the geekiest of geeks who would find this motherboard so attractive. But look at it: subtle shades of orange and yellow against a dusky black background reminiscent of the desert at night. I even sense some Tron in there, subliminal almost, and it gives me the willies. The fact that this sucker will overclock like a crazy animal only helps matters.
