

Dell Offers 32GB SSD Upgrade on Mini 9 Purchases for $100

Dell has added an option to install a 32GB SSD solid state drive to their Dell Mini 9 netbook purchase. It adds an extra $100 to the base price of $349 for the unit, however. Click here to access their online store if you want to take the leap into more speedy memory for your netbook.
The unit comes packed in with a paltry 4GB of SSD drive support so paying $100 for an extra 28GB doesn’t sound like that bad of a deal. To put it in perspective, it costs half that much to make your Mini 9 pink.

Dell Mini 9 Netbook Hacked to Offer Touchscreen Support

The Dell Mini 9 is one mod-friendly netbook. First people hacked OSX support. Then, someone figured out a way a rig a working GPS unit into the system. And now? A user named Deldotb of the myDellMini forums has turned the screen into a functional touchscreen.
They did it by strapping on one of those eBay touch panels and loading the appropriate Ubuntu drivers. It seems rather easy to do, the only negative being the loss of a USB port. Below is a video they made to show off the discovery. What’s next for the little netbook that could? Minesweeper?

Dell Releases Red Mini Inspiron Mini 9 Netbook in Japan Today

Dell has released a red version of their popular Inspiron Mini 9 for the Japanese market. The red netbook will finally be released today in Japan, after being rumored to exist since May. Dell Japan has also announced the Inspiron Mini 9 Platinum Package, which features a 32GB SSD for ¥54,980 or about $565.The company offers no word when or if the Red Mini will be coming to America.
