g1 upgrade1 T Mobile Offers Firmware Upgrade for G1 Able to be Manually Installed

T-Mobile’s RC29 upgrade for their G1 arrives on November 11th. For the impatient, there is a way to manually force the upgrade. Simply download the update and move it to a MicroSD card. That’s pretty much it. T-Mobile has warned that the manual upgrade isn’t officially supported, so if you muck up your G1 you are on your own. Also, the company has yet to reveal exactly what is on the upgrade. Curious yet?

Verizon’s New Lineup

Verizon is enticing us (at least me) with four sweet new phones: the Juke, Pearl, Venus, and Voyager.
The Samsung Juke "flick" phone has 2GB of built-in storage, A2DP (which shows up in all these phones) and a VGA camera.
Verizon’s BlackBerry Pearl comes with EV-DO and a 3.5mm minijack, and the VZ Navigator service..
The Venus slider has a dual screen setup, with contextual touch controls and a 2 megapixel sensor with a microSD slot for up to 8GB of expansion.
The Voyager (pictured) has everything from a touchscreen on the outside, and a second screen on the clamshell interior, facing a full QWERTY keyboard. Add V CAST Mobile T, a microSD slot and 2 megapixel camera.

All of these are supposed to be out by Thanksgiving, but no word on prices.

Garmin Phone Makeover

garmin Garmin Phone Makeover

Garmin is about to turn your phone into a great GPS. They are coming out with a new set of microSD cards preloaded with its navigation software and standard maps of the US or Europe. Called the Garmin Mobile XT, it will act like a "real" GPS with turn-by-turn directions, route planning, and voice prompts. At a price of $99, and no additional fees, it seems an attractive alternative.

Who’s Your Nani?

nani phone1 Whos Your Nani?

A Japan phone, this one might just duke it out with Apple’s iPhone.  Some of the features on Sophia’s Mobile Nani is bound to bring some excitement to those who can’t or won’t ever support Apple’s iPhone.  It comes with a large 4.3 touchscreen, video playback (800 x 400 pixels), expandle MicroSD slot, camera, WiFi, and a nice little TV tuner.  Even though it might not last 12 rounds in this slug fest with the iPhone, it’ll sure put up a battle before it gives in and buyers out there becomes “one of them…one of them…”

It’s not too shabby eh?
