Two years ago, Mr. Collins lost his Canon Powershot camera when his boat capsized in Kejimkujik National Park. Mrs. Collins nearly drowned and naturally, no one gave the lost camera second thought – until now.

A park maintenance worker found the Canon, which was beaten up, but to everyone’s amazement, the memory card was relatively untouched by the water. When tested, 300 pictures were found on it – eerie reminders of a fateful day.

zink camera printer Polaroid Returns Question is, Why?

Actually, I can think of a whole slew of good uses for Zink’s hybrid digital camera/portable printer. Imagine meeting your insurance adjuster at the accident scene, and you get an instant copy of the picture he’s going to use in deciding how much money you should get. Sounds convenient to me. It’s a 7 megapixel unit with a 2-inch display and SD memory card, and so as a camera it’s just so-so. No pricing, but availability is expected by the end of the year.

news Samsung Meets YouTubeSamsung Meets YouTube

One of the main selling points for Apple’s iPhone was the YouTube application and it made other cell phone companys quiver.  Well, Samsung is up for the battle and the war over easy accessibility has just begun.  Samsung is introducing the SGH-L760, a 3G phone that allows you to record video from the phone itself and upload it directly to YouTube, uBlog and Buzznet.  It should be decent enough for all you YouTube fanatics to upload random videos throughout the day.

The phone is a slider, featuring a 2 megapixel camera, FM radio, Bluetooth, MP3 Player, web browser, and an expandable memory card slot for your microSD card.  The bad news, it’s being released to the European market first.

By the way, LG just announced a partnership with Google for YouTube enabled phones. These two companies are tag teaming against Apple, putting them against the ropes.

41rmgh3xg3l. ss400 The Megapixel Calculator

Have you ever wondered just how many pictures one could take with a digital camera? And not just an estimate, but more or less the exact number of shots you will have left? Taking a page from the film cameras of old, the megapixel calculator has been born.

Results are displayed after entering an input number and the number of megapixels in your digital camera. If you happen to be too lazy, or want a complete list, that is available as well. The results will show the number of shots available in different size ratios or file formats (.jpg, .mov), as well as different sizes of memory cards. Pretty useful, I’d say.

news Philips Goes Bluetooth with New Sound SystemsPhilips Goes Bluetooth with New Sound Systems

Bluetooth technology is employed by Philips in the new BTM628 and BTM630 consumer electronics, where the former is a sleek looking CD player complete with speakers, while the latter comes with a built-in iPod dock and an SD/MMC memory card slot. Both players will stream music from any Bluetooth-enabled device within a 30 foot radius, getting the best out of your cellphone especially when cellphone speakers are pretty puny to begin with. The BTM628 and BTM630 will probably be niche products in the long run. After all, how many people do you know stream music from their cellphones to a speaker system via Bluetooth? Pricing details are unavailable at this point in time.
