As rumored last week, Circuit City made good on it’s promise to close down 155 stores. The company issued a press release on the matter and also offered up a list of the affected locations. Popular video game maker EA has announced that it will be laying off 600 people in the coming months. This will reduce their workforce by approximately six percent. The company has remained profitable throughout the economic downturn and the move is being seen as a precautionary measure. No word on which divisions will be hit heaviest, however it’s a safe bet that it won’t be team Madden.

Motorola will be laying off 3,000 employees, most of them in the handset division, as part of an $800 million expenditure cut planned for 2009. The company laid out the cut at their recent Q3 earnings call. A spokesperson for the company confirmed that two-thirds of the layoffs would be coming from the handset division.
