Microsoft says the Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000 will be available next month for $149.95. That’s good news. I tried previous wireless mouse and keyboards from Microsoft, and found them to be unusable due to interference. There are a limited number of channels available in the 2.4 GHz frequency, and 2 different ways to use them, FHSS and DSSS. Frequency hopping spread spectrum is the better of the two for a mouse and keyboard, because it hops around the 11 channels continuously to avoid interference. Direct sequence spread spectrum locks in on one channel, which means it can receive interference from your 2.4 GHz phone, etc.

I may just give the 7000 a try.
