I’ve always loved Nokia and its simplicity.  It pretty much jump-started the cell phone industry with its candy bar style phones that seem hard to part with.  When Nokia came out with their flip phones, it wasn’t that impressive or even nice to look at.  Now, Nokia is fighting back and getting smart with their very own, stylish and very functional smartphone, the N76.

At $500 a pop, I think they need to try a bit harder.  Hey, at least they’re trying right?

ph2007070701334 The Roswell Festival: UFOs Welcome!

In New Mexico, alien-worshippers from nationwide are flocking to Roswell to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the supposed alien crash. Alien species and UFO’s are, of course, welcome to attend. And yes, this is a serious request.

The festival, which officially commenced on Thursday, includes the standard live band and alien-themed contests. The attendees range from "relatively sane" to "like trekkies at a ‘Star Trek’ convention." Also attending are many guest-speakers, who discuss everything from alien encounters to "What Does NASA Really Know?"

This is the first year the celebration is actually being held at Roswell. While there might not be a high chance of having an alien visitor, it looks like a bit of fun during these boring summer days.

prop bike 0707 The Propeller Trike

Damon Vander Lind, an MIT student, partnered with several of his schoolmates and created the pedal-powered propeller tricycle. The tricycle reaches 7 ft. and weighs about 1000 pounds. It made using aircraft-supply chromemoly tubing and old bike parts. The propeller was made from pink foam coated with fiberglass. Oh, and the propeller has LED lights on the blades, just for that dash of color. If you check out the video, you will the trike in action.
