onion leopard versus windows7 Onion Satirically Pits Snow Leopard Against Windows 7

It’s Monday morning. The most dreaded part of the week. We figured we’d lighten the mood a bit by calling your attention to a really funny piece recently posted by the Onion. It’s a comparison graphic pitting Apple’s forthcoming Snow Leopard against Microsoft’s elusive Windows 7. Tongue is planted firmly in cheek with this one folks. Glance above for all of the hilarity.

8 2 07 laughing roboto Funny Robot

Have you ever met a robot with a sense of humor? Julia Taylor and Lawrence Mazlack at the University of Cincinnati didn’t think so either and that is why they have come up with a bot "that is able to get a specific type of joke, one whose crux is a simple pun."

They hope that this might give all too-serious robots a sense of humor. On the practical side, robots would be more acceptable if they could chuckle along with us.

They loaded a database of words from a children’s dictionary plus examples of usage to teach the robots to identify jokes.

Introduced at the American Association for Artificial Intelligence conference in Vancouver, Canada last week, the robot still missed a few puns, but seems on its way to laughing along with us in the future.

truck 1 Not All Its Cracked Up To Be

A warning not to blindly trust your GPS – and use some common sense!

A German trucker, apparently ignoring warning signs, followed his GPS navigation while looking for the factory in Switzerland where he was due to drop off his cargo, and ended up in this cherry tree.

"He obstinately followed the female voice of the navigation system and drove another 300 metres (yards) until the lane came to an end," they added.

I can hear the German jokes in Switzerland all the way over here!
