Several modders at the xda-developers forum have taken on a rather ridiculous project. They’ve gotten the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 panel interface to work on the HTC Touch HD. From watching the video, it looks like X1 installs, launches and works without too much of a speed difference. The panel interface actually seems more at home on the Touch HD’s roomier screen, actually.

Both companies would be enraged about this, but in the spirit of Thanksgiving, check out the video and see if it’s something you’d like to try out.

g1 HTC CEO Says G1 Should Sell Over 600,000 Units This Year More in 2009

Peter Chou, chief executive and co-founder of HTC, said in a recent interview that he expects to ship over 600,000 G1s this year. Also, although he didn’t release an exact figure for 2009, he did state "in general, we think we can do more next year."

Regarding the Google-enabled device’s potential at luring consumers away from Apple’s iPhone, Mr. Chou pointed to the QWERTY keypad. "Americans are very keyboard-oriented." he said.

The HTC G1 is the first cellphone, from T-Mobile, that will feature Google’s Android operating system. Considering how simple the interface looks, compared to our lovable iPhones…let’s just say Android is still in the game.

I never thought the Sidekick on T-Mobile was a great phone at all.  I mean, sure it has all these useful applications that allow you to connect to the internet and instant message people.  But, it just always looked ugly to me.  Now, Motorola is making me think again about the Sidekick with the Zante.  It looks like it belongs in nightclubs just so you can get emails and phone numbers from people…just don’t spill your drinks on it.

touchphone HTC Touch Hopes to Touch iPhone

HTC announced today that it’s touch-screen smartphone, the HTC Touch, will be available in the US by the end of the year.  The HTC Touch uses touch-screen technology supposedly similar to that of the iPhone, and has a nifty user interface based on a rotating cube.  HTC boasts that the HTC Touch is the world’s first touch phone.  Hear that, Apple?  FIRST.  Sorry iPhone.  I didn’t mean that.  I still love you.

HTC hopes to compete with the iPhone, and since it’s packing the whole Windows package, it may offer a certain level of PC integration that allows it to do just that.  However, even with all it’s fancy rotating cubes, some critics (me) remain skeptical.
