HP confirm rumors of new smartphone devices with the announcement of the HP iPaq VoiceMessenger and the iPaq DataManager.

The DataManager is a touch screen phone with a slide out keyboard running Windows Mobile 6.1. It features a 2.8 inch QVGA screen, full 3G capabilites, A-GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth and 3.1 megapixel camera with LED flash.

The Ipaq VoiceMessenger has similar features to the DataManager but instead of the touchscreen and slide out keyboard features a 20 key suretype-style keyboard. It’s HP’s answer to the blackberry pearl.

Both phones will be available at the end of November in Europe.

A Polish security researcher calling himself "porkythepig" is the one who exposed a whole host of vulnerabilities in 83 different HP and Compaq models ten days ago. Today he released an exploit that uses an ActiveX control in HP’s Software Update. It would ‘let an attacker corrupt Windows’ kernel files, making the laptop unbootable, or with a little more effort, allow hacks that would result in a PC hijack or malware infection.’

HP has just announced new business laptops equipped with EV-DO. They include updated versions of the HP Compaq 2710p, the 6510b, the 6910p, and the 8510 series, along with some other yet-to-be-announced models.

Each will get a free month of Sprint’s mobile broadband service if you sign up for a one or two-year contract.

HP bevy of new iPAQ handhelds, comprised of the 100 Series "Classic" and 200 Series "Enterprise" edition (pictured) are based around Windows Mobile 6 Classic, and sport 64MB of RAM, 256MB of ROM, a Marvell PXA310 624MHz CPU, 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, and color touchscreens.

The 100 has a 3.5-inch, 240 x 320, RGB screen, Mini-USB, and SDIO card slot, while the 200 sports a 4-inch, 480 x 640, 260k screen, 24-pin and Mini-USB connectors, plus SDIO and CF card slots.
