Apple iPod Touch Gets Google Street View Hack – Runs Game Faster Than iPhone 3G

The iPod Touch can finally join its brother, the iPhone 3G, in offering Google Street View. You’ll have to jailbreak your Touch in order to use it, however. Click here for step by step instructions so you can creepily eye the house your ex-girlfriend used to live at. Apple offers no word on when and if the iPod Touch will receive a legitimate use of Google Street View. It probably won’t be long considering the recent iPhone firmware 2.2 upgrade featured legit functionality.
Also, the video below highlights another coup for the iPod Touch. The 2G Touch is pitted against an original Touch, an original iPhone and a 3G iPhone in a game of TouchSport Tennis. It handily beats all three in load times. Not bad, little guy.

How to Unlock iPhone

George Hotz recently came up with a hardware method of unlocking the iPhone, but now he’s come out with a software method to unlock the 1.1.3 firmware iPhone that comes with the 4.6 bootloader. The AnySIM unlock software doesn’t work on bootloader 4.6 yet. GeoHot gives his instructions for his unlocking / jailbreaking software:
geohot’s 1.1.2 software unlock
yes, this is what you have all been waiting for
now fixed to support 1.1.31. Download these:
gunlock and the secpack from http://iphonejtag.blogspot.com/ or the blog![]()
the 4.02.13 fls from http://george.zjlotto.com/index.php/baseband/2. Downgrade your phone to 1.0.2. See all the great tutorials online to do this.
Your baseband won’t be downgraded, this is normal.
This will probably work on other versions too, but 1.0.2 doesn’t lose wifi on bb access.3. Kill CommCenter and run "gunlock secpack ICE04.02.13_G.fls"
4. Reload CommCenter. For some reason my phone was in brick mode. Use the elite team bricktool to get out.
5. Enjoy your 1.1.2 OTB unlocked iPhone
Now who’d have thought it’d be this easy

A few days ago AnySIM announced a new version of their unlocking / jailbreaking tool that unlocks v1.1.3 phones with the baseband 4.03_13_g, but iPhones with the bootloader 4.6 won’t work, only 3.9. The tool uses a GUI, and it looks great, but as mentioned above you can only use the tool if you’ve got the right bootloader on your iPhone. You can download the tool at these sites:

Advanced Scheduling for Time Machine Backups on Mac

This is for Mac OS X only. Freeware application TimeMachineEditor changes Time Machine’s default once-per-hour backup interval to a more flexible schedule. If you’re noticing significant slowdowns on your Mac whenever Time Machine runs its hourly backup (which isn’t uncommon), extending your backup intervals or pushing the backup to a once-a-day affair with the freeware TimeMachineEditor should help.
