USB Warmer Takes Lamest USB Peripheral Award

Okay, so, maybe this could come in handy during those cold winter months when you’ve blown your income on such inane USB devices and can no longer afford to pay your utility bill. Plug this into your PC, and voila–instant heat. No idea how warm this thing really gets, although the picture implies it might cause serious burns in an awkward area of the body, but for $25.83, what do you expect?

Fujitsu Installs Mother of All Fuel Cells

In its on-going quest for fame and glory, Fujitsu has installed a fuel-cell (specifically, a proton exchange membrane, or PEM, fuel cell, which sounds way cool) at its Sunnyvale, CA campus. The monster fuel cell generates 200 kw of power, enough to provide for half of the compound’s data center’s cooling needs. Eventually, the unit will also provide heat, at up to 85% efficiency (compared to normal systems that only achieve 50%).

USB Device Crosses New Boundary

Now, generally, I like to keep things that generate heat and boil substances away from my computers. Call me superstitious. The Chinese must think differently, though–more of a live-on-the-edge philosophy–because they’ve cooked up (pun intended) this $7 USB scented oil burner. I’m sure that in addition to the heat, the vapors wafting in through every fan intake will do your computer loads of good. The question is: will the scent be strong enough to overcome the rancid smell of melted electronics?

Brando Introduces 1,323,276th USB Device

Brando’s new USB canned drink heater/cooler runs $32, with a toggle to decide whether to apply heat or cold (whew! Imagine if it were simply random!). If it works, then it could be a decent purchase, although it would certainly be better off at at $15 or so. I am, though, trying to think of a canned drink that I’d ever want heated, and I’m drawing a blank.
