
Dell Mini 9 Netbook Hacked to Offer Touchscreen Support

The Dell Mini 9 is one mod-friendly netbook. First people hacked OSX support. Then, someone figured out a way a rig a working GPS unit into the system. And now? A user named Deldotb of the myDellMini forums has turned the screen into a functional touchscreen.
They did it by strapping on one of those eBay touch panels and loading the appropriate Ubuntu drivers. It seems rather easy to do, the only negative being the loss of a USB port. Below is a video they made to show off the discovery. What’s next for the little netbook that could? Minesweeper?

Pharos Announces Traveller 117 and 127 – GPS-enabled Smartphones

Pharos has officially unveiled two new additions to their Windows Mobile GPS smartphone lineup. The Traveller 117 and 127 was announced by the company today. The units are both GPS-enabled phones that feature tri-band 7.2Mbps HSDPA. The phones also have a 2-megapixel camera and VGA touchscreens. The 127 features a QWERTY keyboard.
On the GPS front, Pharos Smart Navigator gives traffic updates, dynamic POI and FollowMe services all embedded within the phone. The units will be available on December 1st and will retail for around $530.

Navigon Releases 8100T Navigator – Calls it Uber-Premium

Navigon has released their 8100T navigator. The company describes the unit as "uber-premium." Why you may ask? Well, let’s take a look at the specs.
It includes a 4.8-inch display, brushed-metal housing, a 3D view using NASA terrain data, free real-time traffic updates for life, voice destination entry, Bluetooth handsfree support, text-to-speech functionality and an inbuilt lane assistant. Premium features to be sure. It still remains to be seen if it’s worth the hefty $599 price tag though.

Kmart Black Friday Ad Leaks – Deals on Electronics

Kmart’s Black Friday ad has leaked and there are some decent deals to be had. You can snag an Element 32" LCD HDTV for $399.99, a Samsung 42" PN42A400 Plasma HDTV for $699.99 and a Nextar X3-03 Text-To-Speech GPS System for $79.99. Click the link for a full list.

Holux Announces GPSmile 62 GPS Unit – WQVGA Display

Holux has followed up their GPSmile 61 device with the appropiately named GPSmile 62. The GPS unit features a 5-inch WQVGA display, an "edge-free" design, an SD card slot, integrated speakers and a removable rechargable battery. The unit also includes a built-in multimedia player, Bluetooth and TMC support to keep you updated on traffic. The company has yet to issue a release date or pricing and they are mum as to whether or not the unit will hit stateside.
