Google Fixes Android Jailbreak with RC30 Update

Google, fresh on the heels of Android’s recent RC29 update, has already slipped out another update. The RC30 update exists to help fix a recent jailbreaking issue with the Android device. The company says they are "currently working with our partners to push the fix out and updating the open source code base to reflect these changes."
According to the company, the update should be in everybody’s hands within the next three or four days. Google offers no word on if the update includes any other functions.

Google Breaks Advertising Deal with Yahoo

Google has announced that they are going back on the advertising deal made earlier this year with Yahoo. The deal was Yahoo’s effort to resist the hostile takeover that Microsoft was attempting by creating revenue through the display of Google ads on Yahoo sites.
The proposed deal did bring up countless antitrust questions from those within the Department of Justice. It has since been recognized as a way for Yahoo and Google to wave off and weaken Microsoft’s buying position, but now that Yahoo and Google have split for obvious legal reasons, what remains of Microsoft? Will they make another stab at Yahoo or will Yahoo attempt the impossible and merge with AOL for salvation of both companies.
Either way, it should prove interesting and we will keep you updated.

Google Adds Text Messaging to Gmail Service

Gmail has now allowed users to send text messages through it’s Gchat function. The option is experimental, so you’ll have to access it through the Labs tab inside of settings. Your messages will appear as a 406 number, and the rest of your number will solidify once you’ve sent your first text.
Many instant message services have offered this functionality for a while, so it’s nice that Google are on point as well.

Not much else is know about the device except that it could be ready as early as November.

Google and Nasa to Develop Interplanetary Internet

OK, well not really. Google and Nasa have began working on a solution to replace the old-n-busted radio equipment system that was developed back in the ’70s.
The project is called "Interplanetary Internet" and will be tested on the International Space Station sometime in 2009.
I think this is friggin cool but I don’t want to see Mission Specialists playing "World of Warcraft" from space!
