Sony PS3 firmware update details

Sony quietly(for them) unveiled a firmware update for their PS3 on October 15th. The update includes, among other things, several interesting additions for for cinéphiles out there. You can now enter your DivX VOD registration code to make using the king of codecs on your home television easier. The update also offers 50Hz video output, Mosquito noise reduction video enhancement and support for chroma unsampling. Check the link for more details.
Does any of this help you with your level editing on "Little Big Planet?" Um, not at all but that is one amazing game and it deserved a shout out.

GTA IV Delay to Q2 2008

No GTA IV on October – or even for Christmas for that matter.
Rockstar is delaying the release of Grand Theft Auto IV because it is having problems with its development for the PS3. That will delay other platform releases as well because of the contractual obligations which state that the PS3 version must come out first.
"We believe the lack of GTA IV this holiday season is a clear positive for Take-Two’s competitors, namely EA and Activision,†said analyst Todd Greenwald.
"We estimate that roughly USD 400 to USD 500 million in consumers wallets will be freed up to spend on other hardcore games."

Soul Calibur for Wii Worth Mentioning
Pretty cool screen shots for the Soul Calibur coming out on the Wii. One of the most fun games I’ve played since it came out and I’m glad Nintendo is doing their duty by having Wii Heads out there in on the fun. Go here for more.

Wii Rifle
So the Wiizapper that came out recently for the shooter games wasn’t up to par in my book. It didn’t look aesthetically pleasing either. For all of us macho guys, we all want to hold something substantial, bigger, and explosively gorgeous because we all love big guns, if you know what I mean. That’s where this comes in, the Wii Rifle. I want to feel like I’m holding a sawed-off shotgun when I’m firing away, killing off zombies or anything else that needs their heads blown off. Isn’t it grand?
For around $17 bucks, with its smooth, sleek sex appeal, you’re going to be the new desperado for sure.
