In May, a Brit and a Frenchman snuck to the top of the Burj Dubai and BASE jumped from it at 650 meters up. BASE jumping is a new phenomena in which people freefall from man-made objects with the help of artificial wings and a parachute. It is not for the faint of heart. Please do not try this at home.

The video details their infiltration, jump and subsequent escape. The footage is both poignant and incredible. Watch it below:

A team of French scientists has created the most sophisticated artificial heart of all time. Built using technology found in satellites and airplanes, the prototype heart uses electronic sensors to regulate heart rate and blood flow. Those same sensors will help patients react suddenly if they need more or less blood. Apparently, it beats almost exactly like the real thing. So far, the unit has only been tested in animals. Clinical trials on humans are expected to occur shortly. The artificial heart has a current price tag of $192k.

All of this is, of course, to protect the French people’s ability to move freely about. Methinks there’s some irony in there somewhere.
