Verizon’s USB EV-DO Modem Almost Available

Now, personally, I wonder a bit at the usefulness of a USB wireless broadband solution. I see the entire purpose of solutions such as Verizon’s implementation of EV-DO to be portable, meaning either integrated in a notebook or at worse add via PC Card or ExpressCard.
Obviously, though, Verizon disagrees, as they’re pretty darn close to releasing their Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U USB modem. It’ll have a dock, a removable battery for added power when necessary, and all that, but it’ll still be something hanging off the back (or front or side or whatever) of your notebook as you’re sitting in Starbucks sipping latte. I suppose they’re entitled to sell whatever they want, in this case for $179 after rebate and two-year contract.
Newton Mogo Mouse Is Surely Awfully Small

The Newon Mogo Mouse X54 fits inside an ExpressCard 54 slot, which already means it’s incredibly thin and small. Add in its wireless presentation remote mode with laser pointer, and it’s a useful little bugger. But, for some, the key word there is "little." Those people blessed or cursed with large hand might find this a little uncomfortable. Gnomes will love it, I’m sure, when it arrives in August.
MicroU2E Cures ExpressCard Envy with USB Convertor

It’s as simple as it looks: a USB 2.0 to ExpressCard adapter for all those folks jonesing for an ExpressCard device but, alas, with no corresponding slot. It’s limited to USB-based cards, not PCIe, but it should work for HSDPA and such. $38 isn’t too much to get what you can’t get otherwise, I think.
Some 32GB SSD Goodness from Transcend

If you’re lucky enough to own a notebook with an ExpressCard slot (which is many newer notebooks these days), you can easily add a 32GB solid-state drive (SSD) thanks to Transcend. They’re faster, can take more punishment, and use less power, but they’re also mighty expensive: this model will set you back $509. Ouch, but no pain, no gain, as they say. Oh, and it includes a USB 2.0 adapter for those unlucky souls without an ExpressCard slot; no word if this makes an impact on performance.
Kensington Cuties

Kensington announced six additions to its “Control it” line of notebook mice and desktop sets aimed at the mobile professional. They are part of the company’s new Ci Lifestyle Collection which features thinly-designed, space-saving computing accessories with intelligent features, providing both style and functionality.
