
Pioneer introduces two new DVD burners with Qflix technology

Qflix, the hottest of the hot in DVD burning technology, has wormed it’s way into two new Pioneer burners. The DVR-2920Q and DVR-X162Q will allow you to burn CinemaNow movies onto specially-keyed blank DVDs. Each drive is also bundled with Roxio Venue software to help with that testy download-to-DVD process. Each drive comes with Roxio CinePlayer as well, if you hate televisions and would prefer to watch stuff alone on your laptop. Curled up with an empty bag of Cheetos balled in one hand. Get a grip man.

Star Trek Player / Phaser

Toshiba in a joint promotion with CBS Home Entertainment’s launch of "Star Trek: The Original Series," Season 1 has unveiled this "Star Trek" Combo which features HD DVD on one side of the disc and standard DVD on the other.
Purchasers of the boxed set and any Toshiba HD DVD player will be offered the limited edition "Star Trek" Phaser – a remote for Toshiba’s HD DVD players.

Five Free Discs From Blu-ray Association With Player Purchase

The Blu-ray Association is having an online promotion, where people who buy any Blu-ray player starting July 1 through September 30 will receive five free discs. The titles are from the major studio supporters of the format, and the selections include 22 titles. Some of the titles included in the online promotion – Pearl Harbor, Corpse Bride, Underworld Evolution, Black Rain, Transporter 2, and Devil’s Rejects. The website to check for details is www.bluraysavings.com, but the site is not live yet.

Bang & Olufsen 40-inch HDTV Package

Bang & Olufsen’s newest line is a beauty! The BeoVision 7Â "home theater in a box" includes the 40-inch HDTV, 7.1 surround sound speakers, amplifier and a DVD player. It sits atop a motorized floor stand that will adjust the display to keep the viewers happy in all locations. And like many B&O designs, it includes an electronic curtain glide — because pressing a button to eject a DVD is just too much work. Yes, it is pricey at $13,500 but it will come in a variety of colors!

Sweet Sony DVD Player

I want this baby! It boasts an 8-inch widescreen LCD and 180-degree swivel, six hours of battery life and purportedly plays every kind of DVD out there.
Add DivX support, an AV input / output, twin headphone jacks, digital audio output, a 12-bit / 108MHz DAC, and a worldwide power supply.
Not done yet — there’s a USB port for loading music or photos and a wireless remote for handling the controls from afar. Although, just how far way are you going to be from this thing while watching a movie?
