320GB Laptop HD

The first 320GB 2.5 inch HD out of the gate is Western Digital’s 320GB Scorpio. It is purported to be "one of the quietest 5400 RPM, 2.5-inch drives available," with WD’s trademark WhisperDrive and IntelliSeek technology promising to keep the noise down and the power consumption to a minimum. It will take $200 to put this baby into your laptop, but expect to see them as a pre-installed option soon.
3TB 3.5-inch drives by 2010

While Hitachi predicts to deliver 4TB drives by 2011, Western Digital has unveiled a drive with a storage density of 520GB per square inch. That means 3TB 3.5-inch drives by 2010.

4TB Drive by 2011

Hitachi is making the bold claim that they will provide 4TB desktop (3.5-inch) and 1TB laptop (2.5-inch) drives within the next 4 years. The new recording heads are more than 2x smaller than existing gear or about 2,000 times smaller than a human hair.
