Neonode concept gadgets

Posted on January 9, 2008 at 11:17 am (PST)

It was this concept art that drew me into the Neonode exhibit, and i have to admit, the concept art is super cool. These guys are taking trends to new extremes.
Neonode is also demoing a cellphone that they’re going to release commercially in summer of this year, called the N2. It’s smaller than a [...]

Toothbrush Couch?

Posted on October 22, 2007 at 6:05 pm (PST)

This neat looking thing is actually a couch. Designed by some student at the University of God Knows, this couch is meant to give you a massage while the lazy person reclines. If you ask me, the only think this couch is good for is blocking peoples view of the TV.
Grade: D+ barely.
ps. it’s [...]

Aptera

Posted on September 28, 2007 at 8:29 am (PST)

At first I thought this "car" was the concept of some billionaire Jetsons fan gone nutty. Then, I heard it didn’t fly, despite it’s appearance (strike two), then I heard it was going into production and it would be available to the public for about $26-29K.
Here’s the kicker though…300 miles per gallon. No joke. (home [...]

Hip and Ugly

Posted on August 31, 2007 at 6:26 am (PST)

Looking vaguely like an alien life-form from Lost in Space, the "Rocking Wheel Chair" is a concept rocking chair created by designer Mathias Koehler. With spindly alien legs and an ever-important overhead light, the rocking chair manages to be simultaneously hip and terrifyingly ugly — which is ironically what I look for in a woman.

Something from The Last Mimsy

Posted on August 27, 2007 at 12:09 pm (PST)

Here’s a wild idea for a design concept: put together a speaker with 12 sides, otherwise known as a dodecahedron, and you’ll get a 360-degree blast of music. These spacy-looking Quasar speakers send their sound all over the place, so no matter where you are in the room, their sweet audio will be spilling out [...]

It Looks Like a Little Trash Can! Get It?

Posted on August 27, 2007 at 10:46 am (PST)

It’s not bad to have a recycle bin, since sometimes we really do want to easily retrieve something we deleted. But a 250GB recycle bin? I dunno. Folks at Franco Cagnini, who designed The Tempo, think otherwise. And, there are blue LEDs that indicate how "full" the "trash can" really is. No price or availability, [...]

Moon May Take On Proper Role in Lighting Our Streets

Posted on August 11, 2007 at 3:04 pm (PST)

For centuries now, the Moon has complained–to deaf ears, until now–that it could be providing all the street light we need, most of the time. No need for gas or electric streetlights, no sir, not unless there were clouds and such. Finally, someone’s listened, and developed Lunar-Resonant Streetlights, which use LED lamps that adjust lighting [...]

Nissan’s Drunk Driver Detector

Posted on August 3, 2007 at 1:37 pm (PST)

Nissan has unveiled its concept car with "drunk driving technology."
Among the new features are: alcohol odor sensors built into the locking shift knob, and a facial monitoring system that determines your "state of consciousness through your eyes."

Samsung SS 700 Concept Integrates Camera with Digital Frame

Posted on July 28, 2007 at 9:41 am (PST)

A digital picture frame that’s also a camera. Or, a camera that’s also a digital picture frame. Either way, Samsung’s concept SS 700 is interesting, but I do have one question: isn’t a digital picture frame supposed to be, you know, stationary? And, a camera, you know, portable? Okay, maybe I’m being a luddite here, [...]
