Canon EOS 5D Mark II Displays Multiple Battery Capacities

The Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera is being hailed as the first DSLR able to manage multiple batteries. The camera includes technology to read up to six separate LP-E6 batteries. The LCD will will display data about each battery whenever you like.

Canon Recall on PowerShot A650 IS

Canon has issued a recall for the PowerShot A650 IS (in China) because the Vari-Angle LCD display can leak light onto the image when used in bright sun.
So if your pix have been overexposed, it may not be you! US recall may follow.

Canon 40D Closer to Reality

Because this model number was uncovered on a CIPA (Camera Imaging Products Association) PictBridge certification list, we might assume that the actual product is not too far behind. The rumor mill says:

10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor measuring 22.5 x 15-mm, 5fps burst mode, integrated anti-dust cleaning system, 2.5-inch LCD, and DIGIC II image processing.

Sony vs Canon: CMOS Wars

Sony is following Canon with an announcement that it will allocate Â¥60 billion ($490.4 million) for its CMOS manufacturing operations. Although this information has been on its website for some time, it is only after Canon’s announcement that it is building a new CMOS plant in Japan that this news comes to the forefront.

Canon Building CMOS Factory

Canon is investing $451 million to build a factory to to double its production of CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductors) components for its cameras.
The CMOS chips will be used in both SLR and in some compact models. Canon is aiming to produce 24 million digital cameras this year.
