Samsung Announces Solid State Drive – Finally

They’re supposed to use less power, create less heat, last longer and perform better. Sounds like a long-term storage panacea, right? Well, it looks like Samsung is getting ready to release a line of solid state drives (SSDs) to the market–the OEM market, that is. Pricing will be high at first, as always, but I’m betting that by the time these babies hit retail, they’ll be at a reasonable premium over plain old hard drives.
