7 23 07 laak Phil Laak vs Computer

Computers have reigned supreme in games like backgammon, checkers and chess against humans — but not in Poker — at least, not yet.

Poker champion Phil Laak will be playing 2,000 hands of Texas Hold’em — against a computer this weekend in Vancouver, BC. Of course, in the way of technolgy, it is only a matter of time until the computer catches up.

"This match is extremely important, because it’s the first time there’s going to be a man-machine event where there’s going to be a scientific component," said University of Alberta computing science professor Jonathan Schaeffer

There is a prize of $50,000 prize, but I want to know how the computer will spend it if it wins.
