Motorola to Layoff 3,000 Employees – Most From Handset Division

Motorola will be laying off 3,000 employees, most of them in the handset division, as part of an $800 million expenditure cut planned for 2009. The company laid out the cut at their recent Q3 earnings call. A spokesperson for the company confirmed that two-thirds of the layoffs would be coming from the handset division.
